Red Bank Recap- 12.22.23

We are in the home stretch before Christmas! I feel like I thought I had a ton of time, and then looked up some time last week and realized I was less than two weeks out. Then the rush ensued! I’m almost done shopping (just a few last minute things), and Santa will have some assembly required this Christmas, but we are pretty caught up, I think. Steven worked inpatient call last week, but we did spend Saturday afternoon at the new ranch with some friends and it was so fun! Mid-week last week we had our first calf of this season, and have seen two more since then. It’s such a fun surprise to find a calf when we get there!

We had a quick lunch with Daddy at Torchy’s after church and his procedures on Sunday before heading over to basketball practice (and we had to twirl in the parking lot!). Then Liv helped me make a big pot of chicken and dumplins for dinner that night.

On Tuesday, Liv had her Christmas music program first thing in the morning, and then was out of school for the rest of the day. We dropped Henry at preschool for his last day before Christmas break, and then had lunch with Daddy, and ran errands, including a quick trip to the library. She is typically in ballet when we go to the library and doesn’t get to go, so she thought this was a treat. Henry had his Christmas party at preschool, and it must have been a banger because he was out like a light when I went in to pick him up! I hosted our monthly Bunco game that night, and we normally have a structured potluck style meal organized by the hostess, but since it’s the holidays, I cooked dinner and had everyone bring treats for a cookie/ treat exchange. It was so fun and worked really well! We had plenty of treats to go around and a great assortment to enjoy over the next week or so.

Liv had her class Christmas party first thing Wednesday morning. They enjoyed a little brunch and book exchange, and then she got to come home, officially out for the break. We had an early lunch with Steven in town, and then got to come home and relax the rest of the day, which was wonderful. We had no activities that night, so we had takeout pizza and watched the Hannah Waddingham Christmas special on Apple TV. It is so good! Henry had been watching The Grinch in the playroom and when we went to get him to eat pizza, we found him passed out on his nap mat on the floor. It’s been a busy week!

We had Steven’s office potluck on Thursday, and Liv stayed the night at Bud and Gran’s since Henry stayed Tuesday night so I could go to her party early on Wednesday morning. It’s always a little weird not to have them together, but I’m glad when they get to have special experiences on their own.

Steven has today off work, so we are wrapping up our last minute Christmas errands and enjoying a long holiday weekend. I hope y’all have a relaxing and fun weekend straight into Christmas! Happy Friday!
