As I’ve mentioned before, we were devastated to lose our sweet Boudreaux back in May. He was truly the absolute best dog there was, and we still miss him every day. We know we would never be able to replace him, but we also know that we love bullmastiffs, and missed having one (Amos doesn’t count, he’s supposedly bullmastiff but we think he’s his own special something 😂). After some time, we searched on the AKC website again and found a litter of puppies available in Chickasha, OK, which is about 4 hours from us. At the time, they actually had pictures of a boy puppy and a girl puppy up and we started spinning big ideas about taking both- a Crawfish and a Beignet.

Once we got in contact with the breeder, we found out the little girl had already sold and was pending delivery, but the boy, a red fawn, was still available. We liked that he is a different color than we’ve ever had before, and the breeder was really nice and knowledgeable, so we set up a date and time to meet and pick him up.
The next Saturday rolled around and we loaded up a little before lunch time and headed north to Oklahoma. Despite being just four hours, it was a pretty desolate four hours, but we got there just before 4:00, our set meeting time.

It was love at first sight! He was the absolute sweetest baby, and super calm. He slept and snuggled in my lap and Steven’s the whole way home. We knew beforehand that we planned to name him Crawfish (we had to keep our Cajun bullmastiff theme!), and it just seemed to fit him with no second thoughts.

As far as puppies go, he was pretty low maintenance for the first few days at home. We were a little out of practice of puppy life, but he was a really good baby and we really enjoyed our little puppy days with him!

Tune in next week for the next Tuesdays with Crawfish!
