Three Thoughts on Thursday

ONE

On Christmas Eve’s Eve we decided to watch a movie, and I can’t even remember the last movie we watched before that. After scrolling through all the options on all the platforms, we decided on Killers of the Flower Moon on Amazon Prime. We were interested in seeing this back when it was in the theatre, but never ended up with a free weekend to knock it out, especially with how long it is.

Y’all. It’s so long. So, so, way, way, too long. Should have been a mini series long. It’s legit 3.5 hours. Northeast Oklahoma/ Osage county is one of our favorite places to be (I mean, we’ve vacationed there multiple times over the last several years), so we were very interested in the story, but it was just disappointing. The visuals were beautiful, but overall it was a little hard to follow, some of the acting was a little cringy, and gracious, just… LONG. Would I recommend it? I don’t know, probably not? I really wished it was better! {Pictured are some of our fave times in Osage county 😉}

TWO

When is it socially acceptable to take down Christmas decorations? Usually I have them up so early that by the time Christmas rolls around, I’m over them and ready for all the clutter to be gone ASAP after Christmas day. Last year’s New Year’s pictures look like everything was down by then, but we’re still in full decor mode right now. I think part of why I still have everything up is that I’d like to be super organized in taking it down and putting it away so it’s easier to put up next year. I’ve had a long organization punch list for Christmas break and it just hasn’t rolled around to that. I’m just curious if I’m way behind or if there are others out there like me 😉 {Pictured is most of everything that needs to be put away 🤪}

THREE

The last several years I’ve made a Goodreads goal for the year. I make it on Goodreads so it will tell me if I am ahead/on/behind schedule for the year, even though I don’t really rate or review on there. I haven’t 100% decided on this year’s goal, but am leaning toward 40. 37 for 2023, which was significantly under 2022’s 66 and 2021’s 50. I’ve hit a better stride with audiobooks in the last few months, and since I have an hour of driving at least four days a week (thirty minutes to town and thirty minutes home), I think there is potential to knock more out that way. The goal is really only for me, and as a check box person, I probably take it more seriously than I should. If you have any recommendations for books I should read in 2024, leave them in the comments!

Favorite Book of 2023: It Was An Ugly Couch Anyway– Elizabeth Passarella

Least Fave of 2023: Mad Honey– Jodi Picoult
