Red Bank Recap- 11.24.23

Happy day after Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a wonderful day full of delicious food and time to reflect with gratitude for all the amazing blessings we have. I feel like this past year more than ever before I’ve been able to see the Lord’s hand working in our life daily and it has been so humbling to see His goodness and mercy in this way, and I am so, so thankful.

We really Thanksgiving-ed it up this year! After Thanksgiving at the elementary school, we had Thanksgiving at preschool the next week. Henry got to chow down on a Thanksgiving feast with his little school buddies.

Followed by an actual nap…

Henry has the world’s longest streak of refusing to take a nap, really in general, but specifically at preschool. So this was a pleasant/ very odd surprise to find him still napping when I got there to pick him up!

On Wednesday night, instead of our normal meal at church, we had a Thanksgiving potluck and it was SO GOOD. I made a pumpkin spice cake and mac and cheese, but there was more food than you could fit on a plate and it was all delicious!

Thursday night was the Thanksgiving meal served at Granny’s assisted living complex. They were slightly non-traditional with the menu- bacon wrapped filets, twice baked potatoes, tri-colored carrots, and rolls, with salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Non-traditional, but actually pretty tasty! The best part was the hugs, though. 🙂

In the middle of the week, we squeezed in a Nutcracker dress rehearsal…

And then the real deal on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon! To read a full recap of Liv’s Nutcracker experience, click HERE.

The kids had all week off from school, so we spent some time decluttering their closets, and having fun at home without a set schedule. We came to town one afternoon to play with sweet friends at the library and nearby playscape, with a quick trip in the candy store. We are so thankful for our sweet friends here!

I find myself often feeling a little overwhelmed with gratitude at what our life looks like right now and how much it has changed over the last ten years. This year specifically, I am so very thankful for thriving kiddos that I get to spend my days with and a thoughtful and selfless husband that provides for us. And most of all, I’m thankful we serve a God who does more than we can ask or imagine! Happy Thanksgiving!
